Perhaps
more than any other form of Native American pottery, each and every
storyteller has a personality all its own. These sculptures usually depict
the centuries-old cherished art of a grandmother or grandfather telling the
children stories from the colorful past of their cultures. Helen Cordero of
the Cochiti pueblo is credited with making the original storyteller figurine
in 1964. However, now you can find storytellers made in most any Native
American pottery culture.
