White Buffalo Dancer and Partner
#300-034

The White Buffalo doll is one of the newer examples of carving of dolls representing social dancers.  He wears a white buffalo hair headdress with black buffalo horns.   His body is painted white with a large black oval design on his chest with numerous white spots.  His forearms and lower limbs are painted black with white spots.  He wears a white kilt with embroidery and an embroidered sash as a belt, on which are tied cone seashells.  He wears a crisscross bandolier and armbands decorated with seashells.  He wears white moccasins with fur cuffs and carries a rattle and a bow and arrow.  He represents the Spirit of the White Buffalo, which is a rare animal and one that is considered to be sacred.  This piece also has the Mana partner, who assists the White Buffalo with his dance.
