The Hopi people are probably the greatest producer of baskets among the
Native American tribes. They have three major styles of basketry - wicker
weave, coil weave, and plaiting. While the
plaiting style or sifter is commonly produced on all three Mesas, the coil is a
product of Second Mesa and the wicker baskets are made on Third Mesa.
